Lauren has a passion for anything futuristic and innovative. Her life endeavor is to be in a position where she can use her imagination and influence to solve the world's most complex problems.
After watching Star Wars and other science fiction as a child she knew her future was in aerospace. And from there her initial career trajectory had been set. Lauren graduated with an MBA and a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Her passion also extends to conservation and eco-friendly technology. During her time at UC she had the opportunity to capture next generation alternative energy sources with a bacterial superbug that emits electrons.
Lauren is proud and openly transgender. Her personal journey involved transitioning genders. It didn't start there and it didn't end there.
Like many transgender people it was a truth she realized at an early age but wasn't a reality she was able to embrace until later in life. At her core she is someone who wants to see positive change and less suffering in the world. Lauren was passionate about saving whales and dolphins and wanted to get involved in politics after reading 'Myths of Free Trade'. From there she got heavily involved in politics during her time in college, even becoming President of the College Democrats of Ohio and connected with some of the most passionate and incredible people one could ever imagine.
Parallel to her academic life and advocacy she was still struggling with gender dysphoria. When she transitioned genders she faced the challenges one would expect in Cincinnati. But Lauren had her own self to overcome, too. It was a journey of courage, self-discovery, personal growth, and triumph. She wanted to change hearts and change the world by using her own journey to advocate for others.
Lauren has been involved in GE's Pride Alliance (LGBTQ+ employee resource group) and the Human Rights Campaign. She has given dozens of allyship trainings and composed other LGBTQ+ training. Lauren has also had the great privilege of connecting with other transgender peers, mentoring people on their workplace transitions, and coaching people on their allyship journey.
In her personal life Lauren loves anime and video games, traveling, learning, environmental advocacy, veganism, and stout beer.
Favorite anime: Serial Experiments Lain, Hellsing, Pokemon, Gasaraki, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Boogiepop Phantom.
Favorite video games: Zelda, Baten Kaitos, Xenoblade Chronicles, Star Wars Rogue Leader, Animal Crossing, Persona 5, Dragon Quest and the "Tales of...." series.
